Description
Create your own willow reindeer to decorate your home this Christmas. During the course, you'll be introduced to the basic tools and techniques of willow weaving. You'll be shown how to create the structure of a willow sculpture, and then how to random weave the body form and features of a reindeer. The sculpture will be approximately 4ft tall, and makes a great natural and unique decoration during the festive season. About the venue The workshop will take place in my studio at Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield, Shropshire. You'll get a chance to have a look around my workshop, including some of my stock items, commissions, work in progress, and my mini-library of weaving books. Maws Craft Centre is a bustling creative hub, just along the river from Ironbridge. There's lots of artist studios and gallery spaces for you to have a wander around during your lunch break. You can also explore further afield, and go for a walk along the River Severn and take in the spectacular views of the historic Ironbridge Gorge.
What's included in the price?
This course is suitable for beginners and over-16s. No previous experience is necessary. The group size is limited to 4 to ensure that all course participants can get 1:1 support from the course tutor. All tools and materials are included. Hot drinks and mincepies (of course!) will be provided during the workshop. Please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements. For lunch, either pop by the Tile Press Cafe next door or bring your own packed lunch.

Vine Willow Wood is the practice of Shropshire-based artist, Daisy Askins, who uses natural materials to make woven sculptures and baskets. Daisy has a collection available to purchase and hire, and can also make bespoke pieces by commission. She runs regular workshops in willow weaving and other nature-based crafts in Shropshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands
