Pewter bangle making at Manchester Craft and Design Centre

Join Ella to create your own pewter bangle. Design your pewter bangle and learn how to add texture and pattern to metal using items such as lace, dried flowers etc and a traditional jewellers rolling mill. We will then shape your bangle using hammers and formers before polishing so you can wear your handmade design home. Ella, who recently won the Creative and Cultural skills award for her pewter workshop programme, will guide you through all aspects of this fascinating process handed down through generations of makers. Ella is a full time pewtersmith based at Manchester Craft and Design Centre since 2012. Having specialised in pewter after completing her jewellery and silversmithing training her work has been recognised through awards from The Worshipful Company of Pewterers and she has completed many prestigious commissions over the course of her career. Suitable for beginners or those who have tried jewellery or silver work before.

What's included in the price?

During this workshop Ella will provide all tools, materials and metal. Ella will have a large selection for you to choose from but please do feel free to bring along interesting textures to try - items less than 5mm thick such as lace, paper stencils or leaves work well.  Teas, coffees and biscuits provided throughout the workshop. Manchester Craft and Design Centre is open to public with 18 craft studios. Please feel free to arrive early to browse the centre.
