This course is the first option for the ‘Main Course’ at the Imaginary Mosaic Cafe.
Learn how to learn to make a panel (‘Minty Green Peppers’ or your own design) for a garden wall or a floor with the 'mesh method'.
The mesh method is exactly what it says - you make the mosaic onto mesh so you can make it sitting at your craft table in the comfort of your own home and then install it into a position of your choice. This could be onto a wall or floor indoors or outdoors.
In the course I demonstrate and explain the whole process in the videos (some bits are speeded up to shorten the length of them) from discussing substrates (backer boards) to installing the pepper onto an exterior backer board and grouting and finishing.
10 videos with a total of 77minutes to watch whenever and how often you like .
Supporting pdfs and Minty Green Pepper template .
‘Tea Break’ video about andamento (how to create flow and movement in mosaic) .
How to ‘regrout’ .
Tips and tricks.
Mosaic nippers, goggles, tiles, mesh, backer board, tile adhesive…
There is a video and pdf of all materials required on the course, but please let me know if you want the list beforehand .

I spent the day on Kate’s one day mosaic workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have some experience but learned so much with lots of input from Kate when we needed it. She went through various techniques and provided electronic notes for us to refer to for future reference . She gave us the scope to be individually creative and was on hand with her wealth of experience if we got stuck.
She had a good selection of mosaic materials.
I would attend another one without question. Would highly recommend 😊
Kate is a great tutor who gives a calm approach to her teaching, making you instantly feel relaxed. Her studio has a range of materials in a comfortable setting. Her diverse range of courses is suitable for beginners through to the more experienced mosaic artists offering new ideas and ways of working. I would not hesitate to recommend her workshops.
I have just spent a lovely day with Kate at one of her Mosaic workshops. I have always admired her beautiful work so it was a great chance to learn a few of her tricks. There were 7 of us in her workshop and the creativity was flowing and we were buzzing! There were lots of tiles, glass, tesserae etc for us to choose from in a rainbow of colours plus all the cutting equipment so we only had to bring an apron and an idea. I would recommend one of her courses for both beginners and for those like myself with some experience. But be careful, once you’ve tried on you will be addicted like me! Have fun. Wendy
I did this course with my sister and I have to say we had a wonderful time. Kate was great, she was there when you needed her but happy to let you get on with it at the same time. Learnt lots more beyond the basics of mosaicing as the butterfly we made was for the outside. All explained coherently and lots of different materials to choose from. Would highly recommend for a relaxing day out. In a lovely setting too, I will be back.
Excellent course - thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful workshop and teacher, fabulous materials, great support, lots of inspiration. Achieved much more than I thought would be possible and very happy with the end result!
