Description

Learn how to make a junk journal with expert Rozy Walker. Experience the delight of creating a unique journal from materials that would otherwise be discarded. You will never look at an empty cereal box in the same way again. Discover a hobby that does not break the bank and is gentle on the environment. Over three days you will learn how to: Plan, make and decorate a journal cover that is sturdy, visually pleasing and fit for the purpose you have for it. Create a ‘hole template’ (for binding) for your journal and learn how to create one for any sized journal you make in the future. Notice the textures, patterns, weight etc of the junk paper and select papers best suited to your journal’s purpose and design. Cut your selected papers to their sizes to create interesting signatures. Pierce holes in your signatures, choose your binding material and sew the signatures into your journal. Create and add a closure to your journal. Create and add paper beads to your journal. Design and make embellishments for your journal, eg tabs, tags, pockets, tip-ins etc. You can expect to experience an atmosphere that is fun and relaxed. You will be invited to work at your own pace. Demonstrations and guidance will be provided as a group and individually as needed. This course is open to all. No prior experience required. - About the tutor: Rozy Walker has been running creativity groups and workshops for over 25 years for people of all ages and abilities.
