Learn how to make a braided sewn T-shirt rug
Description
Come along and create a rug out of T-shirts that would otherwise be thrown out. This is a fantastic upcycling technique that can make a useful bathroom mat for your home. They can be made to match any colour scheme, in a range of sizes. Are you interested in learning a new skill and reducing waste? You will learn the techniques necessary to produce a beautiful rug, made from T-shirts. You'll start by making Tshirt yarn out of the clothing, and then move onto braiding and then sew your new rug together on your sewing machine. Come along and try something new!
What's included in the price?
We will have a selection of T-shirts available, but if you want to choose specific colours then please bring some of your own T-shirts. You will need about 6-8 adult T-shirts per rug. We have rotary cutters and cutting mats, but if you have your own that will save waiting time. Please bring your sewing machine (needs to be able to do a zig zag stitch) and neutral coloured thread. ** We are a small charity devoted to getting people into craft. We aim to keep our workshop price as low as possible in order to make it as accessible as we can. We are always taking in donations of fabric and craft supplies, which we put towards future projects. So if you are clearing out your cupboards, please feel free to bring anything to the session that needs a new home. ** Children (10 years & up) are welcome at the session, but they must be accompanied by an adult (with a separate ticket). If you have any disabilities or support needs we will do our best to accommodate you. Please just drop us an email ahead of time to talk it through.
