Introduction to Raffia Craft | Small Clutch Bag with Claire Richards at Cambridge Art Makers
Description
Join us for an exciting new one-day workshop discovering raffia craft. Raffia is a great craft material to work with and you are guaranteed a mindful day of switching off and enjoying the calm of crafting. On the workshop you will learn about where raffia comes from, how to dye the raffia and how flexible and forgiving it is as a craft material. There may be a small amount of coloured raffia available to use in the workshop but all the bags will be made with raw, natural coloured raffia. Everyone on the workshop will make a clutch bag, approximately A5 size with options of lining and/or customising them depending on the speed at which you work! Once you have mastered the plaiting and sewing skills you will see that there are many options for working with raffia beyond the course, for making beautiful hats or a wide range of bags. There will be samples available for you to see different raffia projects.
