ABOUT THE COURSE This is a one to one course running over five weeks, providing two hours a week of tuition on a flexible basis. The course is aimed at those keen to discover more about the practical aspect of interior design. Whether you are about to embark on a project of your own, are keen to learn more about your individual style, or are just looking to gain more confidence, this course will give you the knowledge and tools to confidently create stylish interiors. The course works best if you have a room at home that you would like to redesign. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Discovering your decor style and preferred colour palette How light affects colour How to use colour How to consider architectural features How to mix decor styles How to survey a room Understanding scale How to draw to scale The rudiments of lighting a room Planning your room Understanding lighting and finalising your fittings Planning and designing any feature areas Finalising finishes, furniture and plans When you’ve finished the course, you’ll have a clear vision of your scheme on your final MOODBOARD This will give you the confidence to order and shop knowing that your interior will look fantastic, meet your budget and suit your unique style perfectly! What you will need: Desktop/laptop computer or tablet – with internet access. Camera – a must for snapping photos of things that inspire you and for logging items you'll be keeping in your scheme. A mobile phone camera is fine. Tape measure – for measuring your room, if you need to (optional). Printer – with a built-in scanner, if possible, but it's not essential. It's useful for scanning magazine pics, fabric that you may not want to cut and other materials that you'll want to add to your mood boards.

Magazine & website resource document: A list of some of the best reading material to keep you up-to-date with the latest trends and sources. With this resource document, you’ll never struggle to source anything interiors again! All materials are included together with refreshments during the tuition time.

I have carried out projects for many clients across the whole of the UK, Channel Islands and France. I am constantly finding inspiration all around me and find it wonderful to share this. With Nikki's guidance you work through the course modules and homeworks, which all come together to help you discover your personal style so that your finished design is exactly what you want and love. Nikki is very supportive and full of industry knowledge and ideas to guide you to create your ideal scheme. I found the weekly phone calls reassuring as Nikki helped me refine the ideas that I was creating, adding in design tips or suggesting simple changes that I hadn't thought of, then sending me links to explore my ideas further. Week by week everything fell into place to create my finished scheme. With Nikki's guidance I have changed my lounge from a room that "never felt right"to a room that I truly love. "Thank you Nikki! For your wonderful course content, and for your amazing support throughout! I'm reasonably confident with decorating and colour - but I'm SO pleased I signed up for the course! It was a bit of a treat, as we'd just moved to a new house and a blank canvas to put my stamp on. I had lots of ideas for some rooms - but was really stuck on the main Living Room - the room I chose to work on through the course. I loved the way Nikki starts you off by digging in to find your own personal 'Style' - so before you make any decorating decisions, you know where to find inspiration, understand what's authentic for you, and know what will make you happy to 'live with'! Once you know what your foundation is - making choices is so much easier - and exciting as you see it all falling into place! The course is beautifully structured, so you build the scheme gradually - and the weekly calls with Nikki were so supportive - inspiring - reassuring - all at your own pace, and challenging in a really good way. Things I thought didn't need changing, became obvious that they did - to stay true to my 'style' - she just asks you the right questions, so you discover for yourself! I am so happy with the result! "I enrolled on Nikki’s course when COVID lockdown blues were at an all time high. I needed something to help make me feel engaged, connected and creative. And I’m so very thankful I found this course. We were in the middle of a loft conversion and renovation where lots of the decorating choices had been rushed and I was keen to carve out one room that I could take my time with and would have some design control over. The course was supposed to take 5 weeks - but with mothering, working and trying to carve out time for the course Nikki was completely flexible and accommodating and allowed me the time I needed to undertake the readings, tasks and homework’s at my own pace. The phone consultations, which happen at the end of each week were an all time highlight - bespoke, supportive, encouraging and educational. I couldn’t have asked for better. I loved the course materials and have been revisiting them as I refine the design for the room I chose to work on and I’m reassured to know I have that knowledge now going forwards for other parts of the house that need decorating or styling. I did this for fun and it was - Nikki is utterly fabulous! Go on ... treat yourself!"

"I am midway through my first house renovation and I find interior design comes naturally to me, however I wanted to work with a professional to push myself and my designs.... in comes Nikki. Her attitude and encouragement were amazing, and I found myself looking forward to our weekly discussions. She goes above what you would expect and I found her to be genuinely interested in my progress and design. Nothing is too much trouble and she would actively send me extra links/websites if she believed it would help me. I would say the course has helped me discover my own style and be able to break down the process of design. It is an excellent course that Nikki easily tailors to suit the students needs, whether that be a novice or aspiring interior designer. I cannot recommend this course enough!"

"I signed up to Nikki’s 5 week interiors course as I wanted to pull interior schemes together in a coherent, organised way. The course modules are easy to understand and full of insight. Each week Nikki spends time going through your ideas, colours, images and gets you to really think about why you have chosen these things and how they work together. Nikki is so kind and easy to chat with. Also full of industry knowledge, Nikki was able to offer ideas to add to my design that I never would have thought of. I now have the modules to go back over time and time again so I will never forget the skills I have learnt."

"Every room in our house needs decorating and it's quite overwhelming! After hiring an Interior designer last year to help us get started, I realised I loved the design process and wanted to learn more. I love interiors but I lacked confidence and had no idea where to start! I was looking for a course I could do from home, that could fit around my job and had some 121 support. Nikki has created a fantastic course! The modules are easy to follow, full of great tips and advice. I felt guided every step of the way and it was so rewarding applying the learning to my home. "Having just lived into a new house before lockdown, we had a room that needed redesigning to work as both dining space and relaxation nook. Daunted at the task ahead and determined not to end up with a bland result or attack it piecemeal, I found Nikki’s online Design course and jumped at the chance. From the outset Nikki was fab talking though how it will work and then on to Week 1. The course content is really great and helps you to work through your homework and inspire you to challenge preconceptions around colour and more. The weekly hour calls with Nikki really help solidify what you have learnt and help in your direction if unsure or a bit lost. Now, at the end of the course I have a fully formed mood board, colour palette and a direction to complete a room I can be proud to say ‘I designed this’. The course also helped me get the right colours for a bedroom in terms of paint and carpet which looks great for a quick small project. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone thinking of designing/decorating a room or house to consider Nikki’s course."

"We are in the process of building a new house and the thought of decorating every room was a bit daunting. I didn’t want to paint everything white! When Nikki’s online course popped up on my Facebook page - it was perfect. The course material provided by Nikki was extremely helpful and focused my ideas. I decided to start with the living room and working through the course material helped me to decide on colours and design. "I mentioned to Nikki that I was looking to revamp my lounge & she suggested, especially in these trying times, that I give her on line design course a go. At first I was a bit dubious as I'm not the creative type. Nikki was there every step of the way to help with some fab ideas. Soon my colour palette was established and I then began growing ideas on Pinterest. Everything was on hand from day 1, from learning materials to Zoom calls. Nikki holds a great repertoire of knowledge and experience which I put to the test during the course, only having a small area to redesign, I was limited on creativity, with Nikki's help we were able to work through problems. I was going to start the revamp in the Spring but my enthusiasm got the better of me, I have now, with help from my husband, painted the lounge, I am very pleased with the results and once we come out of lockdown I can continue to create my dream lounge, dressing it with furniture, curtains etc. I would recommend the on line course as you can work at your own pace and there is no pressure. "I have just finished designing my master bedroom on Nikki’s online interior design course and I loved every minute of it! Nikki made redesigning my room fun and stress-free, and being able to discuss my homework and journey with Nikki at the end of each week was also particularly helpful. She has an abundance of knowledge and inspiration and her passion for interiors just motivates you to a level that you just want to keep on learning! Although this is an online course, Nikki made it extremely personal with her one on one support and encouragement. It’s also extremely good value bearing in mind you are getting help and guidance from a professional interior designer in addition to the whopping amount of resource material you are sent with each weekly assignment; and what’s more I am able to reuse the step by step process time and time again on other projects in my home. "I absolutely loved Nikki's 5 week interior décor course and I would highly recommend anyone looking to combine learning the rudiments of the profession with working on their own live project to enrol! Nikki is highly creative and an exceptional teacher with years of experience behind her, she makes designing a space that fits you easy and fun. I was initially nervous about working with a designer because I didn’t have a huge budget and I had my own ideas and opinions about what I wanted. Nikki showed me so many ways of achieving great design on what she calls “a shoestring budget”. Her course is a fab and an extremely cost effective way of getting a professional scheme put together for far less a cost than if I were to have commissioned an interior designer to do the whole job. I had a deadline to complete the project which I must admit I was panicking about but with Nikki's weekly to do list and homework the time frames were achieved easily. Nikki is someone that goes over and above, and often keeps in touch during the week through emails and with inspiring information on her social media pages. I can't wait to enrol on another one of her creative courses again!"

"This is an absolutely amazing course. I have just finished my 5 weeks with Nikki and I feel so inspired, as I have learnt so much about interior design and have a concept design sorted in such a short space of time. I worked on the design of my holiday cottage which is now looking rather dated. I had to learn the difference between designing for myself and for my guests. Nikki's experience in commercial interior design was significant and I felt in very capable hands. This was an extremely cost effective solution to our projects interior refresh, as we had the benefit of a professional interior designer overseeing our ideas, and more importantly our budget. Nikki was also able to recommend suppliers, contractors and has her own “little Black book” of interior suppliers which students on the course are given access to. The level of tuition was excellent, Nikki is a great teacher and managed to adapt her syllabus to fit our project and learning needs superbly. I could not recommend Nikki and her course more highly."
