Grow Your Own Cloth(es) in your Garden - an introduction to flax growing

X

Description

An afternoon workshop on flax growing - from flax to linen. Join me for a friendly half-day workshop exploring the journey of flax from seed to fibre. This half-day workshop introduces the basics of growing flax for fibre in your own garden. We will cover each step, from sowing and tending the plants to harvesting and the first stages of processing the fibre, which then can be spun into linen yarn. You will get your hands on some flax seeds, stalks, and processing tools. You will also process a small flax straw bundle and transform it into flax fibre. Flax is a beautiful flower to grow, has a short growing cycle so you can still plant vegetables in your bed after you harvested your crop. And by planning now, you can start preparing the perfect flax patch for spring :) No experience or materials necessary, just bring curiosity and some plant love :)
