Beginner’s workshop – No experience is necessary. In this workshop you will make a trio of rings that can be stacked together or worn individually. Additionally, you will also customize one of the rings by incorporating a gemstone bezel setting. Throughout the workshop, fundamental silversmithing techniques such as sawing, shaping, soldering, and finishing will be introduced, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. You will be taking your beautiful handcrafted rings home at the end of the workshop. This workshop is tailored for beginners, providing essential skills for novices and a great introduction to stone setting. Participants with previous experience will also have the opportunity to test and enhance their skills during this workshop. All materials and the use of tools are provided. What you will learn: How to form 3 delicate simple ring bands using sterling silver wires. How to solder your rings and solder a pre-made bezel setting to your chosen ring. How to finish and polish your rings What you need to bring: If you wish you can bring a notebook, an apron and a drink (water / coffee/ tea) Studio Rules: Long hair needs to be tied back Do not wear open-toe shoes in the studio Do not wear clothing or jewellery that hangs-off the body that might be a danger while using tools and/or machinery Follow the Government’s current COVID-19 guidelines Attendee limits: Max 4 attendees Min 2 attendees If a cancellation is necessary due to illness, attendees will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. In the event of a cancellation due to low attendance, an alternative date for the workshop will be offered to ensure a fulfilling experience for all participants. Maker
Emine is a designer-maker of contemporary jewellery. She lives in Whitley Bay and works from her studio at the Biscuit Box Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her work often explores amalgamation of materials and techniques to achieve harmonious wearable objects. She combines traditional silversmithing techniques with metal clay techniques. She shares her love of creating jewellery with others in her silver clay workshops within her studio and at six other galleries across North East.
