Fire striker & leather tinder pouch making workshop

Description

Spend a day carving your very own fire striker and leather tinder pouch to keep it in. Then later in the day we will look at how to use the fire striker and practise fire lighting with lots of different tinders. This course is a great way to get started with friction fire lighting, learn some whittling and how to hand sew a leather pouch. This course is for anyone who would like to be able to light fires by friction and create (or give away to a special crafter in your life) a unique fire striker and leather tinder pouch. The course is more than learning to light a fire, make a striker or sew a pouch, it’s a chance to reconnect with the outdoors and switch off from all of life’s little stresses. What you will learn: * Fire lighting using a fire striker. * Different tinders and how to light them. * Safe knife cutting and carving techniques. * Creating and shaping a wooden handle for the fire striker. * Cutting, sewing and riveting leather by hand.

- All tools and materials will be provided, but do wear closed toe footwear, practical and warm clothes, and a packed lunch. - Refreshments, tea, coffee and biscuits, will be provided.
