Felted Landscape/Seascape with Sewn Elements

X

Description

In this fun, one day workshop you will learn how to create a seascape or a landscape using the unique art form of dry needle felting. Although this workshop is suitable for beginners, it is also is a nice development from Rebecca's earlier felted seascape workshops and would be ideal for anyone who wants to develop the skills that they previously learnt. I must warn you that this technique is addictive! You will start the workshop by creating a small sample piece, where you can practice both dry needle felting, free machine embroidery and layering small pieces of fabrics, this will allow you to gain confidence with the materials. You will learn about compositions and how to layer and blend the felt to create a tranquil scene and there will be plenty of demonstrations and hands on assistance. You will be able to add texture and interest with colourful strips of fabric and lace and you can add sewn details through hand sewing and free machine embroidery on your sewing machine. You might choose to focus on just one final piece, or alternatively create a series to show, for example, a sunset or sunrise or perhaps something you have captured on holiday or in a special place. The image is just the starting point, as your piece will naturally develop and change slightly as you work with the felt, so don’t worry if you don’t have a specific image to work from. All materials, including a frame, are included. Additional frames can be purchased at a small cost on the day. What to bring: A packed lunch Reference images (but several will be available) Sewing machine Small strips of fabric, string, buttons Level: You must know how to use a sewing machine
