Cuttlefish casting in pewter

Collection of Pewter jewellery and keyring
X

Description

Come and try the ancient technique of cuttlefish casting, using the dried bone of a cuttlefish. Bring along a special beach find like a favourite shell or carve a shape into the soft inner surface.

We will be using pewter which has a low melting temperature, to create a cast of your piece. The object you make can be kept as a small sculptural object or turned into a pendant or keyring. Will you keep it or give it as a gift?

This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with some previously tried silver or jewellery making. I am able to run this course throughout the year as private workshops for groups.

3-6 participants. I could run it for a larger group but would need to bring a colleague along. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements, dates listed are free at the moment and could be used for your group. I may be able to offer other dates also.
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty/dirty and shoes that cover your toes!

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

I had a wonderful time with Katy. She made me feel really welcome and I learnt a lot. I also came away with a lovely and I think very wearable piece of jewellery. Thank you so much for today Katy, I am still smiling.

Response from Katy Luxton Jewellery:

Thank you Amanda, for a lovely review. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Really enjoyable morning. Katy explains things so well, we all had a good result to take home. Could have done a whole day as you learn so much with the first casting it would have been good to have had another go.
Venue is lovely if a little bit out the way and the cake is just scrumptious.
I look forward to a return visit to do some silversmithing.
Thank you Katy.

Response from Katy Luxton Jewellery:

Thank you Grace, I am so glad you enjoyed it!
See you again soon
