Description
A workshop to discover the joy of creating your own original collage of the iconic Willy Lott’s Cottage, using recycled materials. This workshop is designed to help you let go of perfectionism and embrace a playful approach to art. We’ll explore the basics of collage—composition, colour and texture alongside the physical joy of cutting, ripping and gluing—showing you that creativity is accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level. You’ll learn how to simply start and free your inner artist, with a focus on process over outcome. Beyond a beautiful piece of art, collage is a powerful way to unwind and find focus in the present moment. It’s also an environmentally friendly art form, giving new life to old materials. Expect plenty of colour and fun as you create a unique and quirky collage to take home, along with the inspiration to keep creating. What to bring: - Old clothes - Any personal collage papers that you would like to use - Refreshments are included, but please bring a packed lunch with you About your tutor: Lucy MacBrayne Lucy MacBrayne is a mixed media artist who creates vibrant, abstract pieces using collage, painting and mark making. Influenced by nature's “perfect imperfection” she finds endless inspiration in the natural world. Beyond her own artistic practice, Lucy is passionate about fostering creativity in others. She hosts local coffee mornings and workshops at her home studio and at Firstsite, creating a welcoming space for artistic expression. Currently, Lucy is pursuing a BA (Hons)in Painting with the Open College of the Arts. About Flatford Mill: We have four buildings that are used for visitor accommodation. Whilst most rooms are either en-suite or have a dedicated bathroom, there are some rooms in The Mill that share showers and toilets at the end of the hall. If this is unsuitable for you, please make the office staff aware upon booking or as soon as possible. Please be aware that you are visiting a Field Centre that caters in the main for school parties; the accommodation is basic and dormitory style, but warm and comfortable.
