Description

This happy little pair of blackwork mushrooms proves a real hit at workshops. Completed in Back stitch and Holbein stitch on a pre drawn background, this project offers a range of balckwork techniques. The design can be completed on evenweave or Aida and everything you need except a water soluble fabric marker and scissors is in the kit. Using a water soluble ink allows any visible lines to be easily removed once the design is complete by dabbing with a moistened cotton pad. Shading is achieved by the use of different thread grades and part stitches. Blackwork embroidery is very rewarding and therapeutic to stitch, it is very similar to cross stitch but works quite quickly and once you can see where you are going with the design, there is no need to keep looking at the chart, except to see where threads and stitches change. The threads supplied are of the highest quality soft, mercerised 100% cotton. The kit comes complete with chart and full instructions and the finished piece measures approx. 13 x 13cm. Stitch tutorials are included in this kit so is suitable for beginners. Maureen is a master hand embroiderer with over 25 years experience. Skills handed down from Irish ancestors have been honed with training from world class embroidery schools.
