Description

This is a three week introduction to spinning yarn on a drop spindle. We will look at different types of spindle, look at the properties of different fibres, learn the basics of this versatile tool and begin to create yarn that you can take away with you. Situated in the beautiful studio of Wayward Weaves at 21 George Street, it is an inspiring place to imagine what your yarns can do next. This will be a relaxed and gentle class in the centre of Stroud close to the station and bus routes.

Understood! Learning to spin can be frustrating and there are definite stumbling blocks to encounter. However the yarn of new spinners is highly admired by those who have been doing it a long time for its texture and unique style - there is no wrong yarn! It can all be used in diffferent ways to create individual weavings for example, as you will see from the work in the room. The class is structured so that is not too long, and short breaks are encouraged and mistakes are expected and also encouraged! However do contact me for one to one lessons if that is preferable.

This will be a class for complete beginners but it could also be a nice reintroduction for those who want to start again after a break, or join a group to enjoy being surrounded by yarn and spindles. If you are more confident you are welcome to go at your own pace. Look out for improvers classes coming up if you'd prefer.
