Maker's bio

I have been turning wood since just before the end of the last century. I have been demonstrating turning at home and overseas for 20 years and teaching it for over 15 years. I have written many articles for the woodturning press and for the web. In 2011 I was awarded the Tony Boase Tribute award at the AWGB international seminar. I am an AWGB approved tutor and a tutor assessor. My aim is to provide you with the knowledge and techniques to take your woodturning to the next level and I teach all levels from complete beginners to experts.

"This was an excellent course which I thoroughly enjoyed and learnt a lot from. It was well structured, starting with all the safety issues, going on to the setting up of a piece on the lathe and then looking at the various techniques of using chisels. Paul is a good communicator and explains things in a clear way. During the practical work he kept a close eye on each participant, giving advice and tips the whole time. "

"A most enjoyable day with Paul. I have never done wood turning before but at the end of the day I came home with a rather nice vase (and a satisfied smile on my face). Plenty of tea and coffee was available and Paul's wife provided a lovely lunch. Paul was very patient with me and the other complete beginners. Recommended."
