"I can’t recommend this workshop highly enough. I wanted to learn how to make luxury curtains and this workshop has shown me how. I now have the confidence to tackle all the windows in my house at a fraction of the cost of having bespoke curtains made. Janet is warm and friendly and we immediately hit it off. She has extensive experience and knowledge and having discussed my knowledge and experience over a coffee we got to work. The order of work is comprehensively documented and Janet went through it at my pace, ensuring I fully understood each step before moving on to the next. Within about 10 minutes I learnt so much I felt I’d already got my money’s worth - she is a fabulous teacher. The workshop is hands-on and covers every aspect including measuring, selecting fabric and other components, hand-stitching, different pleats and dressing the finished curtain. I came away with a sample curtain I had made with varied pleats and the confidence to make all my curtains going forward. It was one of the most enjoyable days I’ve had, Janet is a lovely lady, we had a lot of laughs, and she shared her knowledge freely. I really can’t recommend this workshop enough."

"I had such an enjoyable and informative day learning how to make machine made curtains with Janet. I was a complete beginner and Janet took the time to explain how to set up the machine and how to sew straight. I was given the opportunity to practise sewing and received lots of great instruction, tips and feed back. After building up my confidence Janet then moved me onto making the curtains. There is a lot to learn and I was given really detailed notes to take away with me that broke everything down into really manageable steps. I was guided through all theses steps and Janet was there to help and guide me throughout. By the end of the session I had managed to make myself a lined curtain! Janet also gave me some very good advice on some curtains that I was planning to make. The lesson was really relaxed and Janet is really good fun and very experienced. I am so glad I did this course on a one to one, as I do not think that could have learned so much in a group lesson. I will definitely be back to do one of her other courses once I have mastered the lined curtains."

"What a lovely, amazing lady/teacher. I was quite nervous arriving as a complete novice and worried I was going to make a complete show of myself! I had no need to worry. Janet put me at ease as soon as I arrived. She felt like an old friend. She was so patient and explained everything in a way I understood. She provided all the equipment required and because I took my new sewing machine she checked it over and explained everything. Today she has sent me the instructions from the day together with an essential equipment list, which is invaluabIe. I learnt so much and Janet has given me the confidence to just have a go. "I attended a one-to-one tutorial with Janet to get to grips with my sewing machine that has been left untouched for years!!! Janet was so welcoming and I immediately felt at ease. She talked me through all the basics of setting up, different stitches and footers and gave lots of useful advice for future projects I have in mind. "As the first husband and wife team to attend one of Janet's courses, we tried not to be competitive. We had a great day. Janet was welcoming and provided refreshments throughout the day (with a very tasty lunch!). We were learning about interlined blinds and thoroughly enjoyed it. We have full instructions to come home with and we could add notes in as we went if we wanted to. We also went through all the health and safety rules relating to blinds.... who knew?? Janet was very good at explaining and showing us what we needed to do and we have both come home with a sample handmade under supervision."

"I attended the interlined Roman blind and curtain courses on 2 consecutive days. I had very little experience of either. I found Janet was very welcoming and made me feel at ease immediately. She made the whole process easy to understand and was very patient with my limited experience. Each course was designed to provide you with a thorough working knowledge of how to make a professional standard item. I left with a sample size interlined Roman blind and curtain which I had made following Janet’s instructions and working alongside her. I was also made aware of all the safety requirements which applied to the selection of tracks and hardware. Janet provided delicious lunches on both days. I found her extremely easy to talk to we chatted like friends throughout the time I was there. I had full and detailed written manuals for each of the topics. Janet has also emailed the information after the courses. All in all Janet has managed to transfer her considerable skills in this field to teaching even a novice like myself on how to produce a hand sewn and professional blind and curtain. I would have no hesitation in recommending both Janet and the courses."
