Cushions for Christmas reviewed: Folded Patchwork Cushions

"I had a great day, learning a new technique and a was able to complete one cushion and start a second. This was my first experience of “distance”learning via Zoom and it was really positive. Bev was able to clearly demonstrate the event and help resolve any issue. She is a great tutor and it is so nice that we can have access to her expertise even if we can’t get to a class. Thanks Bev"

Bev Mayo responded:

"Thank you, it was great to see the beautiful, finished cushions on the day. Bev"

"I had the pleasure of being part Bev's cushion for Christmas course and it was excellent. Great explanations and patience. Wonderful to be able to "zoom" into the demonstrations of techniques. The outcome was a completed cushion and the confidence and knowledge to use the technique again. Would highly recommend the course to all."

Bev Mayo responded:

"Thank you Eleanor, It was lovely to meet you and see you complete your beautiful cushion at the end of the day."

Lesley Robinson reviewed: Japanese Folded Patchwork Bag

"I have only tried a couple of very easy, straight forward patchwork projects before. I thought the Japanese folded patchwork bag looked interesting. Making the bag was a very enjoyable way to spend a day. Originally I was going to use my sewing machine - but the great thing about this pattern is you can either use a sewing machine or hand sew. In the end I made the bag mainly by hand sewing (but I did use the sewing machine for the lining) One of the advantages of lessons on Zoom is you can see exactly what the tutor is sewing in close up. The bag is lovely and an unusual shape. as we head into another lock down I m planning to make 2 more bags - so that is 2 Christmas presents sorted!"

Bev Mayo responded:

"Thank you Lesley. I am pleased that you enjoyed the day. It was great to meet you. Bev"

Liz Coulson reviewed: Folded Log Cabin Patchwork Block

"I am new to this work and Bev led us through a very full but relaxed day. I feel I fully got what was being taught and am looking forward to completing my piece. Zoom was a great way to do this course - real close ups of the samples and what was being taught - much better than in a class in a room - and allowed us to talk with the Tutor and other students. I completed two blocks and started a third - which I am delighted at being a novice to this work. Bev had put in a lot of thought and preparation for this day and it paid off - the It all worked wonderfully. She is a really good teacher of quilting and put things over in a way even I could get! Thank you Bev - I look forward to another course!"

Bev Mayo responded:

"Thank you Liz. I enjoyed teaching the lesson and seeing your lovely patchwork blocks. Bev"

Karen Barringer reviewed: Patchwork and Quilting City & Guilds Level 2

"After completing level one with Bev. I had fell in love with the challenge of learning to quilt both the technical and design elements and was truly inspired to continue on and achieve level two. I am just about to finish year one of the level two course. As always Bevs sessions have been well organised, encouraging, thought provoking and a pleasure to attend. I would recommend Bev as a tutor to anyone wishing to learn the basics of quilting or wishing to move into the more complicated design / tech arena. Bev certainly knows her stuff and I look forward to next years challenges."

Jenny Jones reviewed: Patchwork and Quilting City & Guilds Level 2

"I really enjoyed the course, although it was quite hard work with lots of homework! I learnt a great deal, much of it out of my comfort zone which was a reason for my doing the course, as it is very easy just to stay with what you're familiar with. Bev is a great tutor, very patient and explaining things clearly so they're easy to understand and complete. She shows samples of items we need to make, and helped us through all of the processes. I'd recommend this course to anyone who wants to extend their knowledge of patchwork and quilting."

Anne Wilcox reviewed: Patchwork and Quilting City & Guilds Level 2

"I am just coming to the end of my first year level 2, having completed level 1. Having never done any type of design course before , Bev made me feel so at ease with her teaching methods, I now see design wherever I go! This course is far better than I ever imagined and I am sure it's all down to the way Bev teaches, she not only inspires me to be more creative she encourages and supports when needed in a very professional and kind way. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone."

Julie Blewett reviewed: Patchwork and Quilting City & Guilds Level 2

"I attended Bevs studio for the latter part of my part 2 Patchwork & Quilting where she went through and checked my previous work and then we worked on the weekest areas of the course that I had not covered thoroughly. I found Bev to be very inspirational and a delight to work with, her ideas opened up my eyes to the design part of the course which I had not grapsed at all before going to her studio. Im on my way now with my own designs now."
