Description

The two-day joint making course is run by a qualified tutor in a safe and friendly atmosphere. The workshop is well equipped and Bill aims to make the course days enjoyable and rewarding. Bill is fully qualified from City & Guilds through to Masters Degree and is fully accredited by BAFRA (British Antique Furniture Restorers Association). Bill also writes for woodworking magazine 'Quercus' and 'Woodland Heritage'. Having completed the Introduction to Woodworking day or having done a little woodwork, you will wish to improve your skills and expand your repertoire of joints. On the two-day woodwork joints course you will make a frame consisting of 4 different joints. We will look at foundation woodwork skills, accurate marking, tool selection and hand-tool skills. Working on four different joints to develop your skills and knowledge, the frame can then be displayed near your home woodwork area or converted to a photo frame. However, you work at your own speed and the days are more about the learning and enjoying the process, less about the frame. The maximum number of students on this course is 4 as we design the course to ensure you get a good level of tuition and advice. We also run a number of making courses, for example, chair making and stool making. Please see the separate listings. Please contact Bill of you have any questions.

Maker

I am a qualified & accredited cabinet maker and furniture restorer. I have a passion for traditional crafts and teach various aspects of making & restoring. I also write for woodwork magazine 'Quercus' and for 'Woodland Heritage'. I feel that our health & quality of life is enhanced by working practically, making and learning new skills. At a time in society, when consumerism has taken hold, we throw too many things away and do not appreciate materials or nature. We must make better and restore more. We need more relaxing workbench time and less screen time!
