Felt is surprisingly strong and no two pieces will ever be the same, this is the time to embrace your creativity and add your personal mark. - Makes 2x flowers. - Skill level: Easy. Maker
Hello, I’m Liz, owner and founder of Everything Felt Fibre Art which I set up in 2017. I am a designer maker and a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen. Specialising in feltmaking my work focuses on traditional techniques combining art with a love for making a unique range of artwear. Defined by vibrant colour blends using hand dyed wool and silks I create high quality fine felt. Having qualified as a chartered accountant and working in Finance for over 20 years, I made the decision in 2017 to leave my career behind and explore a creative lifestyle, something where my true passion lies – creativity and wool. I have always had a passion for handicrafts and making things, learning many skills from my family from a very early age. Over the years I have explored and learnt many crafts, then I discovered felt and instantly fell in love with its versatility and creative opportunities, a way to create totally one of a kind, truly ‘me’ items that are meaningful and personal. My designs are inspired by experimenting with colour and texture. Focusing on traditional feltmaking techniques my work combines art with a love for making wearable useable items. Defined by strong colour combinations and colour blends using hand dyed wool, silks and hand spun yarns, adding fine detail my work is characteristic of artisan felted work. Being creative gives me a deep sense of wellbeing and confidence, this gave me the inspiration and incentive to share my knowledge and skills to encourage and develop creativity in others. I have developed kits and workshops to give ‘Makers’ the tools and techniques to create special items for themselves.
