Two Colour Photographic Screenprinting with Arthur Buxton
Description
Make an A5 limited edition print run. No experience is necessary. Meet new people in a creative setting, learn a new skill and take home something beautiful made by your very own hands! Working in a relaxed and informal atmosphere as a group of three, this fun all day workshop provides a hands on introduction to the silkscreen process. Your tutor Arthur will work with you to create a limited edition of six two colour A5 prints from scratch - perfect as gifts or even to sell. There is no need to bring anything with you, all materials are provided. Bring an image to life using this colourful and satisfying process. Choose a photograph - anything goes; it might be an old family portrait or a sunset snapped on your phone - and create a limited edition set of hand made prints. In the morning Arthur will demonstrate how to process the image to create two layers of film. Before lunch we'll choose colours, mix inks and expose your films to create the screen. After lunch we'll choose colour, talk paper and your tutor will guide you through the printing process. This workshop runs from 10am to 4pm with half an hour lunch break. There will be tea and biscuits provided, please bring your own lunch. The studio is located down a pretty lane 8 minutes walk from Corpusty village centre where you will find a shop and pub. The river Bure is a 5 minute walk from our garden, a great spot to take lunch if the weather's nice, if not there's plenty of space in the studio to sit and take break. We have space for four cars on our driveway. * Note that the workshop does have steps. Please let me know if you need more information or help with access arrangements and I will do my best to help. * * All workshops are non refundable. *

"It was a great afternoon, thank you!" Studio All Day Long is a screenprinting studio with accommodation offering workshops and artist residencies in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. Owner Arthur is an artist and master printmaker with 15 years teaching experience as a Senior Technical Instructor at The University of the West of England, Bristol. While in Bristol Arthur set up and managed a studio for former Banksy manager Steve Lazarides (and survived to tell the tale!) Arthur has printed for artists Jonathan Yeo, Tishk Barzanji, Jamie Hewlett, Charming Baker and Sir Peter Blake amoungst many others. What is screenprinting? Simply put, screenprinting is the process of using a squeegie to push ink through a mesh stencil onto a surface. It's a deeply satisfying process that anyone can enjoy. Screenprinting is a quick and simple way of making a number of copies from an image. This is known as an edition or multiple. The workshops at Studio All Day Long cater for all levels. No experience or prior knowledge of the process is needed. Arthur has printed with artists as young as seven. If you can hold a squeegee, you can print!
