Description

This is a 2 day workshop run over a weekend. Designed to give you the basic skills and knowledge of traditional upholstery techniques. You will: - Learn how to carry out a variety of processes. - Understand the different materials and tools to use. - Understand how to fix webbing - Learn stuffing techniques. - Understand the layers that create a 'pin' cushion, drop in frame, or double stuff over a chair or stool. Once you have completed the foundation workshop you will have the base skills and abilities to start our regular weekly classes, or progress to our Foundation Two workshop.

What's included in the price?

This course includes the use of a comprehensive toolkit and all materials, including a choice of top-quality fabrics. You can bring your own chair - we would need to approve your choice beforehand to ensure suitability. Alternatively we will have a selection of suitable chairs to choose from at an additional cost (circa £35). Tea & coffee and free parking are also included. (bring a packed lunch)

Whether you're a complete novice wanting to learn a new skill, or an expert who'd like sense of community, we've a wide selection of classes and workshops plus one-to-one tuition. We offer a range of classes and workshops designed to show you traditional upholstery techniques in a fun and enjoyable environment. For those wanting to learn and create on a regular basis, there’s a choice of weekly daytime and evening classes. Alternatively you can choose one of our weekend workshops to work on a project and to give you a taster of what our regular classes offer. In addition, we offer a range of different workshops in how to get the most from your sewing machine, making cushions, furniture repairs, refinishing, fabrics, and more complex upholstery techniques. We also are happy to provide guidance and advice when furniture shopping so you can learn all about what to look for. As you learn and develop your upholstery skills these will dovetail to give you a comprehensive toolbox of skills and knowledge. We're new to Craft Courses, so we don't have any reviews yet, but hopefully you'll be able to provide us with one when you've been on one of our courses! We can't wait to meet you soon!
