Sterling silver beginners pendant making jewellery course

Description

BA Hons Degree Jewellery Designer Sarah Madsen offering a private, Sterling Silver beginners pendant (40 mm max) workshop in this friendly, informal 3-hour class. In a garden studio based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire studio. I have a project of 3 simple shapes that you will be shown how to cut out using a jeweller's saw. After which a demo of a variety of different metalwork techniques could be used to texture those shapes. Those 3 silver pieces are fabricated together with an introduction into soldering! So you end up with a soldered jump ring ready for your pendant to hang off a chain:) Techniques involved are hammering, sawing, filing, soldering and polishing so that you can create your own handmade piece of Jewellery. No prior experience is needed as this is ideal for the complete beginner or those who wish to expand their jewellery making. Ideal particularly if you haven't done much sawing and like to practise. Classes are kept on an open schedule. 3-hour slots (* Allow a time of up to 6 hr slots for up to 3 people) available between 10.30 am and 5 pm Monday-Saturday all year. Summer evenings are also available 6 pm -9 pm :) April to Sept.

What's included in the price?

Silver is for the Pendant alone and is included with these classes. ( *However if you wish a silver chain for the Pendant. This is an optional extra at £12 for an 18" or 20" chain, just let me know and I accept cash on the day for the £12 extra or send you a BACS invoice.) Please during this time of Covid days, please bring your own refreshments.

Once upon a time, (many moons ago!) I was so fortunate to be able to attend Central St Martins College of Art & Design, London. I now work as a full time, self-employed Jewellery Artist. Using Silver and 18ct Gold with gemstones and some enamel. Using various techniques such as texturing through hammering, forging, wax carving, stone setting, etc are used in my work, all from my own studio in Cambridgeshire, U.K. I still love to draw and paint when I can.
