This 2-day course is an exciting opportunity to work with stainless steel. You will develop a small scale project or sculpture. Stainless Steel can be welded and machined like mild steel but has the benefit of not corroding in most environments. Introduction to cutting and shaping stainless steel using a variety of hand and power tools including angle grinders and plasma-cutter. Preparation of metal prior to joining and then introduction to TIG, MIG and spot welding of stainless steel. Finishing of metals including sand blasting and polishing.

What's included in the price?

Day 1 Introduction to the variety of means of cutting, bending and preparing stainless steel including the safe use of angle grinders and the plasma cutter. Set of exercises to prepare steel for welding. Demonstration of TIG, MIG and Spot Welding of stainless steel. 1 to 1 tutoring in the various forms of welding across the rest of the day. Close the day with a discussion around potential projects for day 2. Day 2 Building on the previous day’s discussion, begin making your project with tutor on hand to aid in any areas of fabrication. During the morning there will be a demonstration of various forms of finishing stainless steel including sand blasting, flame polishing and buffing. The rest of the day is available to finish individual projects. Please note there will be a 1 hour lunch break each day (lunch not provided) Basic materials are all included Open to all levels including beginners Health and Safety briefing will be given Please bring a notebook/sketchbook It is essential to wear old clothes and strong footwear
