Description
The Silversmithing taster day is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to make your own silver jewellery, along with learning general silversmithing skills. It is suitable for absolute beginners to people with some prior experience who may wish to build on the skills they already have. During the course you will begin with making a ring out of copper, followed by 1-2 more rings in sterling silver. Time permitting additional silver can be purchased to make more rings at a cost of £15.00 per ring. The skills you will learn during the course are how to measure your fingers and cut the correct size copper & sterling silver metals. Students will also learn how to Anneal & shape the different metals into the desired jewellery shape, along with learning how to saw, solder & cure different metals before buffing and polishing them to a high shine finish. This course is very interactive and continued support is offered throughout the length of the course, whilst at the same time allowing students to work independently. The course runs for 2.5 hours, but on the odd occasion can slightly overrun to enable students to complete the piece of jewellery they are working on.
