Photographing the Natural History and Landscapes of South Devon at Slapton Ley



The course will look at various techniques for photographing the varied natural history subjects of Devon, both from a technical point of view, and more creatively. We will visit various habitats and locations. Techniques will include: - Close-up and macro - Plant photography - Seashore photography - Landscape photography - Infrared photography (demonstration) - Indoor (studio) photography Locations/habitats: (weather permitting): - Dartmoor - Seashore - Woodland - Meadows There will be some walking over rough ground, no distance exceeding around 2-3 miles in total. About the Tutor: Adrian Davies Adrian Davies is a freelance nature photographer, lecturer, author and highly experienced course leader. He has written numerous articles and books, including Digital Close-up and Macro Photography, (Focal Press), “Digital Plant Photography” (Bloomsbury Press) (RHS magazine) “An informative study that would make an excellent gift for plant photographers of all levels”, “Digital Ultraviolet and Infrared Photography” (Focal Press, 2018) and “Photographing the Unseen”, pub. 2022 What to Bring. - Camera (DSLR or mirrorless preferred) - Lenses (including macro) - Tripod - Spare batteries and charger - Memory cards - Laptop if you have one (Don’t worry if you don’t have all this – you will be able to do most of the photography in the locations) Recommended reading list References: Books by Adrian Davies: - Photographing the Unseen World. The price is for sole occupancy accommodation. Shared accommodation and non-resident prices are available.
