Enjoy a personalised woodturning experience in a friendly, professional workshop in Berkshire. These private woodturning sessions are designed for individuals, families and small groups, and can be tailored to suit complete beginners through to those with some prior experience. Sessions are available as 2 hour, 1 day or 2 day options, allowing you to choose how much time you’d like to spend learning and making. The content, pace and projects are adapted to the needs and interests of those attending, making this a flexible and rewarding way to experience woodturning. Private sessions are ideal if you’re looking for focused one-to-one tuition, a shared creative experience with family or friends, or a hands-on activity for a small work team. Group sizes are a maximum of 4 people so everyone has plenty of time at the lathe and individual guidance throughout. You’ll work with a range of quality timbers and leave with finished pieces, new skills and the confidence to continue exploring the craft. Dates and times: Dates shown are currently available however, as these are bespoke private sessions, dates and times can are agreed after booking. Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll be contacted to arrange a suitable date (or dates) and session timings that work for you and your group. This flexibility allows the session to be tailored fully to your needs, whether you’re booking as an individual, family or small group. Q. How far in advance do I need to book? A. Availability varies depending on session length and group size. Booking in advance is recommended, particularly for longer sessions or weekend dates, but short-notice bookings may sometimes be possible. If you have specific dates in mind, you’re welcome to get in touch before booking to check availability. Q. Are weekday and weekend sessions available? A. Yes. Private sessions can usually be arranged on weekdays as well as some Sundays, subject to availability.

Projects are chosen to suit the length of the session and the experience of those attending. This will be discussed in advance where possible.
No, not at all. This course is suitable for those with no prior experience of woodturning.
The minimum age for woodturning is typically around 12 years old, as long as the young enthusiast is supervised by an adult. It's a fantastic way to spark creativity and learn new skills! With proper guidance, safety measures, and a passion for crafting, youngsters can enjoy this rewarding craft while creating beautiful pieces. However, I do run special 'Kids and Carers 2 Hour Woodturning Taster Session in Berkshire' through the year where children aged 9+ can attend so please book one of these sessions if you're child is between 9 and 12 years old.

Turning generates a lot of wood shavings and sawdust so please wear old clothes and sturdy footwear i.e. no flip flops or sandals.
No hooded tops with dangly drawstrings or ties please. Also remove bulky watches, rings with stones, bangles and bracelets. Please tie back long hair.
You will be provided with a woodturner's smock for your session.
