Description
Spending time in nature has proven health benefits, as does the mindfulness of creating art. We have therefore combined these two activities into an unforgettable painting session which takes place surrounded by ancient woodland. Your experienced tutor will guide you on this introductory course in the use of various watercolour techniques. She will discuss colour mixing, laying down watercolour washes, the use of light and shade as well as developing different paint effects. You will be welcomed with hot drinks and biscuits which will be freely available throughout the day. But you will need to bring your own packed lunch. We will take the class on a short walk through the woods to gain inspiration before returning to our calm and inviting classroom indoors to paint. This course is suitable for both beginners as well as those wishing to improve their watercolour technique. Tutor Details: Jo Cameron My background began specifically in Scientific Illustration which included botanical and natural history subjects. Currently as well as my own work and freelance works, I teach and oversee the Postgraduate Medical Artists’ Education Trust Programme in Medical art Medical Artists' Education Trust . This is a scientific part-time flexible learning course. This includes an intensive foundation drawing course which I set up a few years ago i.e. detailed drawing, observation, skeletal and anatomy. All of which apply to any scientific subject, whether it be anatomical, natural history or botanical. Within this I concentrate on teaching the traditional skills of pencil drawing, observation, watercolour, pen and ink and carbon dust - all being perfect mediums for scientific illustration.
