One Day Stained Glass Workshops For Beginners with Ruth Mullan



This workshop is suitable for all beginners; who want to learn the basic techniques of the traditional craft of stained glass. Learn how to make a stained glass panel, in the company of a small relaxed group and for some time-out in the homely, informal setting of Ruth Mullan's artist garden studio. ​ No previous stained glass experience is necessary. A maximum of 2 participants per workshop or can be conducted on a one to one basis. You will learn the essential stained glass skills, working from a design/cartoon provided. You will be taught how to cut glass, lead up, solder and glaze/cement time permitting. You will be provided with a design of (about 6-10 pieces) to work from. You will be able to finish your project within 6 hours during a one day workshop and will be able to take your panel with you. All equipment and a generous abundance of materials provided to use during the course. All materials and tools are included in the cost. Gloves and goggles are provided, please bring your own apron or one can be provided. Even in hot weather please wear closed in shoes and I suggest wearing old clothes. Please arrive by 9:55 am for a 10.00 am start.

I am a stained glass artist working from my garden studio in Sussex. My work is mainly commission based. I graduated from Eastbourne College of Art and Design with a Society of Industrial Artists and Designers (S.I.A.D.) Diploma in Graphic Design. I worked for several years in advertising agencies based in Lewes and Brighton. For a time I worked as freelance designer. When my children were young I took evening classes in stained glass over a 3 year period under the professional guidance of experienced glass maker Keith Nickels and continue to work with him over years.
