Description

In a world dominated by fast fashion, the art of mindful mending offers an alternative of sustainability and self-expression. Join us on a journey to reimagine the way we care for our clothes – transforming mending from a mundane task into a therapeutic and creative expression. During this mindful mending workshop, you’ll discover the transformative power of repairing your clothes with intention and creativity. You’ll learn how to breathe new life into your beloved garments using a variety of reclaimed fabrics and slow stitch techniques. From simple patches to intricate quilt-like designs, you’ll master the art of turning imperfections into unique embellishments, adding a touch of personality to your wardrobe with every stitch. Bring along 1-2 items of clothing in need of repair, and let’s embark on a journey of restoration and renewal together. Whether it’s covering up rips, tears, or holes, you’ll leave this course not only with repaired garments but also with a newfound sense of pride in your ability to mend and create. Tutor: Hannah Cutler has been a textile up-cycler and sewing teacher since 2005. She has a passion for reducing textile waste and empowering people to repair their clothes. Viewing visible repair as a form of textile art, she believes that everyone is able to use this technique to make their loved clothes last. Remember the most sustainable outfit is one you already own! All proceeds from our events and holidays are ploughed directly back into managing our 40 acre nature reserve. Thank you for your support and please do come to visit soon.
