The course did not run it is to be rescheduled in June.
I have attended two of Caryl's courses - Making Christmas decorations and Creating a leaded panel.
Both courses far exceeded my expectations. Caryl is not only an amazing artist but an inspirational, patient and considerate teacher.
Her courses are meticulously planned so that participants feel success at every stage.
Caryl gives just the right amount of support to give you the confidence to try things out and feel a sense of personal achievement.
Each course produces something of a high quality that is personal to the maker. My Christmas robin and star will be brought out every yea,r and my panel has taken pride of place in my home.
I would highly recommended both courses to anyone thinking of trying something different and enjoyable.
Oh, and an extra bonus, the lunch is lovely, and tea and biscuits plentiful.
Response from Caryl Hallett Stained Glass:Thank you Stasia. Very kind of you to take the time and effort to post this. Caryl x
I had a brilliant day with Carly on her stained glass workshop, very well organised, Carly was very helpful, a great fun day.
Response from Caryl Hallett Stained Glass:Thank you Coleen- good to hear you has a successful day. Caryl x
My first experience of stained glasswork today and I loved it. Caryl is a great teacher with boundless patience and positivity. I was relieved to have a range of templates to choose from but others, more experienced, came with their own design ideas. Caryl was happy to accommodate everyone’s needs. Nice small group of four hence lots of one to one support. The day flew by and I am delighted with my panel (despite the dodgy soldering- possibly the hardest part!). Lunch was delicious too, and tea and coffee on tap. Would love to return and I recommend wholeheartedly.
This was a really enjoyable day making a stained glass art hanging. Caryl was lovely and walked us through various processes with ease, enabling us all to come away with something really quite fabulous! Only 4 people in the class, making sure you get all the help and attention you need. Can't recommend any course with Caryl enough, you won't be disappointed. Going back to do another course in June!
Fabulous lunch too 😊
Thank you so much Caryl x
Response from Caryl Hallett Stained Glass:Thanks Philippa- so good to hear you all had a fab time! Caryl x
I've just come back buzzing from a great workshop with Caryl, learning to make Christmas tree decorations. I'm not a 'crafty' person at all (neither practical or dextrous) but I love coloured glass and the workshop day was given to me as a gift. So I was in some trepidation, wondering whether I would be able to make anything at all, never mind something half decent. I wasn't the only one with self-doubt! So our small group got on well and we had a lovely day together. Caryl was an excellent teacher and guided us through everything, step by step. I ended up making 3 stars that I'll be proud to hang on our Christmas tree - a lovely reminder of a great day. (And a really excellent substantial lunch too - plus masses of hot drinks and nice biscuits!)
I can highly recommend Caryl's stained glass window course, a very relaxing and absorbing day, learning a new skill and coming home with a piece of artwork.
The group was small and informal which contributed to this excellent day, we all received individual tuition from Caryl who was patient, supportive and passionate about stained glass windowing. A perfect gift for someone or just enjoy treating yourself!
I bought this course as a birthday present for my 80 year old mum as something to do together; both of us loved it. Caryl's instructions were very clear giving us plenty of time to practise the techniques before choosing our project. She gave us useful advice regarding making choices on contrasting and complementary colours and glass textures and was generous in allowing us to use unusual glass in her collection. She was especially helpful to my mum, who has shaky hands, and we both came away with items of which we are both very proud and display at home.
A lovely lunch, including vegan items for another lady on the course.
I'll be returning for another project, with my mum!
Thank you, Caryl.
Had a wonderful day making a stained glass panel with Caryl. This was my second workshop ( I tried copper foiling a couple of months ago) and I was not disappointed. The group was small and Caryl is an excellent teacher, introducing the techniques clearly but then letting us work as independently as we wished offering encouragement and support when needed, and providing all the tools and a huge selection of glass. It was a full day, cutting the glass in the morning then leading in the afternoon, with an excellent lunch and plenty of tea and coffee to keep us going. Everyone goes home with a piece they can be proud of. I would wholeheartedly recommend a workshop with Caryl.
What a fantastic workshop! I learned so many new skills and, with Caryl’s expert tuition and patient guidance, I created something really nice to take home.
Lovely lunch provided, which Caryl kindly made vegan for me.
Highly recommended. I’ll certainly be doing another of Caryl’s courses!
I was one of 6 people on the one day glass panel workshop.
Caryl took us step by step through each stage, demonstrating and guiding us.
We all had the relevent tools and equipment that enabled us to move at our own pace. Lots of beautiful glass to choose from.
Caryl was wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to any of her workshops.
We’d booked this course as a group of friends for a good day out together and it was fab. We were all absolutely new to stained glass work but Caryl is a great teacher, giving us just the right amount of instruction and support to produce our own piece of stained glass at the end of the day. It was fun and relaxing and we had a lovely lunch thrown in too. Couldn’t have been better!
We had a great time on Sunday making our stained glass leaded panel. Caryl was friendly and patient and an excellent teacher. She made the day relaxed but also ensured that we were able to all produce a lovely panel by the end of the day - the time flew! There were plenty of templates to choose from and Caryl helped to ensure that the glass we chose would look good together....for those who are more creative there was the option to create your own design. I would definitely recommend this course and would love to go back to do another of her courses.
I had a wonderful day learning how to make a stained glass panel with Caryl. She is knowledgable and patient and provided us with clear and careful teaching to enable everyone in the small group to make and take home a beautiful leaded stained glass panel. The selection of coloured glass to choose from was excellent. Great lunch too! A very enjoyable course, thanks so much!
I have just had a wonderful day on Caryl's stained glass panel workshop. Caryl is an excellent tutor, not only highly skilled in glass work, but highly skilled in passing those skills on in the course of a relaxed, inspiring, creative & wonderfully productive day. During this she also provided regular refreshment & a delicious lunch. The day was worth every penny & was a 5* experience I very much hope to have again😊
This introduction course run by Caryl at Harrogate is excellent , the morning session starts with trading in glass cutting followed by selection of a design for a small panel and cutting and selection of glass for the panel. Amazing variety of glass to choose from and wonderful pieces around the room to inspire you. Lunch was provided with a lovely selection of soup salad sandwiches wraps and cakes Caryl is a great host and trainer coffee and tea available throughout the day whenever required. The afternoon session moves on to the lead cutting and framing and soldering culminating in the finished panel to take home. Wonderful course , inspiring instructor, I would recommend this course 100% to anyone. Caryl is an amazingly talented artist and her glass work is beautiful.
Thanks for a great day Caryl thoroughly enjoyed it.
Caryl uses her stained glass work talent and mixes this with her superb teaching skill to provide a wonderful workshop. Her lesson plan is relaxed, yet ensures you have learnt a a large number of skills to be able to produce a finished product at the end of the day. The workshop is a wonderfully creative environment to begin to learn the wonders of glass and appreciate the talents of those who produce copper foiling, leaded stained glass or fused glass. Her enthusiasm is contagious and I left after one day of copper foiling, feeling proud of what I had produced, relaxed and rejuvenated and knowing I want to learn a lot more. I will be booking for another course next year.
I found the stained glass work shop to be a wonderful experience. The day was split into two halves, the morning was learning about the design and the cutting glass to fit it, the afternoon was the lead work and soldering your glass piece together.
With only four others on the course, I found Caryl had plenty of time for all of us, our individual needs and one to one interactions weren't rushed at all.
The lunch provided was very tasty and all dietry needs were catered for.
The overall experience is highly recommended!. Thank you Caryl!.
I did the stained glass light catcher course. It was an excellent day. Caryl is a good teacher, spent plenty of time with everyone, and explained things really well. She made sure we could all do the each step of the process and went out of her way to help us do what we wanted to do. And the lunch was lovely too.
Just spent a (birthday present) day making a stained glass panel with Caryl & absolutely loved it!
A brilliant teacher, beautiful glass, delicious lunch- a wonderful wonderful day! Highly recommended!
I attended the one day beginners course in stained glass panel making at the weekend. I had such a wonderful day. The group was small which was excellent. The workshop was just full of beautiful stained glass art which was just wonderful to look at. I am so pleased with the outcome of my panel and would love to do another course. Thank you so much for a great day.
P.s, the lunch was great.
My friend and I really enjoyed a creative day with very good teaching. Small friendly group atmosphere, very good lunch, we both came away with good stained glass panels and a sense of achievement. Would thoroughly recommend.
I received this day course as a Christmas gift from my partner, following me saying how I’d like to try something new and give me the chance to get creative.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself, learning some new skills and bringing home a finished piece I’m proud to call my own. Caryl was a great teacher, giving us the confidence to get stuck in (after the initial housekeeping rules) and the small class size (5 of us) meant she was able to give us all one to one time.
We had access to lots of glass - of various shades and textures - so was able to get our creative juices flowing!
I am looking forward to signing myself up to another course soon!
Just finished a fabulous day of stained glass making. Such a great teacher and course, Caryl showed us the techniques to create our own individual pieces (I'm really proud of mine!) The class size was small, which enabled everyone to help, when they needed it. It is the first course like this I have done and feel very inspired to do another-maybe even the Christmas one!
A wonderful surprise gift from my daughter, which couldn't have been better.
Having always said that I would love to do glasswork I actually got the chance to step into this fabulous Aladdin's cave of glass art and ,have a go.
Caryl was a fabulous tutor, so patient and alert to the different skill levels of our small group, giving plenty of support if needed. It was inspirational to see her cutting complex shapes in a piece of glass as if it were butter.
The materials and tools were excellent , with a wide choice of glass colours and finishes available to create your own heirloom.
A fabulous day with a chance to chat, over a great lunch and come home having learned new skills, with a masterpiece, what more could you want?
Just returned from this fantastic course. Had a brilliant day, thoroughly enjoyed making a small stained glass piece. Caryl was very helpful and patient with the class. Would recommend this day course for anyone interested in creative glass design. Many thanks Caryl !
I would like to thank Caryl for a brilliant day we produced three Christmas themed pieces each to take home with us, she is a lovely patient teacher which was great for me. We enjoyed hot drinks and a hearty lunch which was delicious. It was also great to meet four other like minded ladies who also attended the workshops they made my husband and myself very welcome into the group and all were very entertaining.. The workshop gave us confidence to try more Stained Glass projects, would recommend it to anyone that likes to try new things.
Arrived at Caryl's workshop with no experience of stained glass, and came away with a wonderful piece of glass art.
Thanks to Caryl's patience and knowledge of what she is doing, she gave me the confidence to achieve things which i couldn't imagine.
All in all a great day, with plenty of one on one time, which was what i needed.
Also the lunch was a real bonus, and my partner enjoyed the cake too.
Many thanks to Caryl
Caryl is a patient, kind and generous teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with her and produced a slightly wobbly but lovely stained glass light catcher. Will be looking to visit her again to learn more and improve my technique very soon.
Had a great day with Caryl and 3 other stained glass novices. Only 4 of us meant that Caryl could spend lots of time helping us through the processes. We had quite a bit of practise time on plain glass before moving onto the real thing. I've never done anything like that before, but I really enjoyed it and felt supported right through to the end. Lunch was good (veggie and meat) and lots of teas/coffees throughout the day. I'd definitely recommend it and would like to do another one.
I had such a lovely time doing Caryl's stained glass course. She structured the day so well and there were only 4 of us so she was able to give us all plenty of attention. We all came away with a beautiful piece of leaded stained glass (around a mirror in a frame in our case) which was entirely achievable in the time we had. We were able to do our own designs, choosing the colours and types of glass we used and there were plenty of her own creations to see if we needed inspiration.
We were very well fed at lunch time (veggie and meaty) and throughout the day we were offered frequent teas and coffee with a snack in the morning.
Altogether it exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it.
What a fantastic day
What a brilliant day! This was such an enjoyable course, and covered everything you need to know to get started working with stained glass. Caryl is a great tutor, very helpful, very patient, with lots of great suggestions and solutions. We all ended up with amazing pieces of stained glass artwork that we managed to create in a day. Will definitely be booking another course with Caryl.
Can't recommend this course enough if you are interested in trying glass. Caryl is very patient and shows you how to cut and grind the glass safely before you start. She has lots of great designs to choose from and an amazing selection of glass for you to work with. My light catcher has pride of place in my window. Already booked myself on the lead panel class to further my knowledge. The lunch provided was lovely too.
Had a fantastic day on this course. Caryl is a very good patient teacher. We came away with a fantastic stained glass piece. Her studios are amazing, will go back again. It was well worth the travel from Oldham to attend. Would recommend Caryl to anyone looking to try their hand, at stained glass.
I spent a very rewarding time at Caryl's light catcher workshop on a grey February day. It was immensely rewarding and delightful to take home a piece of art, predominantly made by me!
Caryl is a patient teacher and as she kept the attendance at the workshop small, she can provide quality support. A tasty lunch was an added bonus.
This was an amazing day , I learnt and achieved so much , caryl was amazing and a great teacher , I highly recommend any course with caryl as she inspires and encourages you so much , great lunch too
Great day making a stained glass panel. Excellent tuition from Caryl in a small group. Lovely lunch. Wide range of designs and glass to choose from.
I have just spent a wonderful day with my partner on Caryl's stained glass class. The whole course was well set out and was wonderfully delivered by Caryl, who was extremely knowledgeable, and helpful. The groups are small, which means that Caryl has plenty of time to assist people. A busy, fun, but relaxing day. Lunch was wonderful and at the end we all had a wonderful stained glass panel to take home with us. I would highly recommend this course. I am looking forward to joining Caryl for another of her courses soon.
I've just attended the Making a Stained Glass Leaded Panel workshop with Caryl. The course was very interesting and Caryl was extremely supportive on the day, helping with aspects of the design and construction of my leaded panel, giving lots of tips and insight and also being very understanding of my allergies by providing all the safety equipment I could need, making my day very comfortable. I would highly recommend Caryl's courses, she is a talented and passionate artist which is evident through the enjoyable course she delivers and the lovely glass panel you can take home at the end of the day after a bit of work yourself.
I've just completed a one day introduction to stained glass, making a lovely panel. As a complete beginner, this course was an excellent introduction to stained glass lead work. Caryl's easy going manner and friendly approach makes the day especially enjoyable. She is very knowledgeable and supportive, ensuring that you are not only learning and developing new skills, but also able to explore your own design ideas and apply these ideas to the process.
I would thoroughly recommend a course with Caryl and will definitely be coming back for more!
Thank you Caryl for your patience today - I had a fabulous time.
I attended the class not knowing anything and came home with a light catcher I am immensely proud of! Caryl is a very good teacher and is patient and helpful and I now feel that I am able to have a go myself at home. My family are amazed at what I've achieved and I think I will be making a few presents for people when Christmas comes! I can't recommend Caryl enough if you are thinking of having a go, the place is very easy to get to and with a light lunch thrown in it's a totally enjoyable day!
Just finished a course with Caryl, completing 2 stained glass panels. This was such a great experience - Caryl was very supportive, hugely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful throughout. It was amazing to leave with my first completed stained glass panels - it feels like I have started along a new path... Lunch was very tasty too!
Many thanks, Caryl.
I've been to several of Caryl's classes. Each time learning different techniques. I've loved every minute. As the classes are small, each student gets one to one help from Caryl, and I'm looking forward to more classes this year.
I attended the landscape class over 2 days . We really enjoyed the creative time spent on the pieces and learning all the processes involved in the making of stained glass. Caryl was very helpfull and patient and the 2 days were well structured and very informative. We all came away with lovely pieces that we will treasure for years to come .
Have booked myself and a friend on another of these fab courses. We had a wonderful day - Caryl was so patient and gave us all the help we needed to make some beautiful (even though I say so myself!!) glass decorations. I never considered myself to be creative but it's given me the crafty bug for sure - can't wait for the next one!
I attended Caryl's course, along with two friends, to make Christmas decorations. As complete beginners it was quite amazing to come away with three very respectable pieces, of which we felt very proud. Caryl was so encouraging, with gems of ideas & advice, & her preparation for the day was impeccable, with all the necessary equipment to hand. We also enjoyed a deliciously healthy lunch!
Fantastic workshop and Caryl is a really great teacher. I went in not knowing a thing about how to make stained glass and came out with my very own takeaway piece which I cut, copper foiled and soldered myself. Caryl provided plenty of help, attention and expertise when needed and I really enjoyed the process of making the stained glass piece. Couldn't recommend this course enough!
I went to Caryl's one-day pre-Christmas workshop and came away with a gorgeous collection of little glass trees which I gave as gifts. Perfect.
I had a lovely day; doing something completely different, chatting, busy.... And came away with a beautiful panel. We were a very small group so Caryl had plenty of time to give to help each of us as and when we needed.
As a real beginner to stained glass work I found this course most enjoyable. Caryl's style is really relaxed and her guidance is clear and supportive. She helps you every step of the way and you end up with a beautiful glass panel to take home. The choice of glass was plentiful and all equipment top notch. You get a great lunch too!
I really enjoyed Caryl's course. The range of glass and equipment available for us to complete our project was excellent and we were given a good selection of patterns to choose from. Caryl was knowledgeable, patient and she helped us to achieve the aim of the day - a lovely traditional glass panel to take home. Lunch was excellent, too.
Small group, friendly workshop with excellent tuition to learn this fascinating skill of stained glass
