About the Course

This is a one day introductory course in making silver jewellery. The day is designed for people with little or no experience of silver jewellery making, or for those experienced in making silver jewellery. Learn about basic tools, workshop practice and traditional jewellery techniques for working in silver.

You will make and finish a simple band ring in the morning and then in the afternoon move on to learning to texture metals and cut out sheet silver to make a pendant or a pair of earrings.

People with some experience will have the day tailored to your level.

The workshops are held in my studio in Mortimer, near Reading in Berkshire*.

The group size is small, so you will have plenty of individual attention.

Please get in touch via the contact form above for bookings.

Following booking you will be sent an email with directions and details of what to bring.

*Please note that Cathy Newell Price Jewellery shares it's postcode with another jewellery course provider which is a totally separate business and in different premises.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

All tools and equipment will be provided. The cost of materials is included unless you work very quickly and make extra pieces or want to make bigger pieces in which there will be an additional charge of silver at cost price.

Teas, coffees and snacks will be provided. Bring your own packed lunch.

I attended Cathy's silver course recently and would highly recommend it. A fun and relaxed environment to learn in. I was also delighted with my ring, pendant and earrings - all made in one day!

I attended a one-day course at Cathy's workshop and I loved it! Cathy is a great teacher, she explained everything clearly and helped when it was needed. Instead of telling me what to do, she guided me which resulted me making my first two pieces of silver jewellery that I'm proud of! I would certainly recommend Cathy's workshops to anyone who is interested in jewellery making.

I attended a one day workshop run by Cathy and I loved it. Cathy is a great teacher and I learnt a lot in a day. I made a ring and earings from scratch and my friends were really impressed . She has definitely inspired me to enrol an evening class near me.

I recently attended a one day introductory course for beginners in silver jewellery making with Cathy. I made my first piece of jewellery in the morning which was a silver band ring and quite an intricate pair of earrings for my wife in the afternoon .

Cathy was very patient and gave instruction in a way that was easy to understand and follow. Her knowledge and years of experience shone through and she was a joy to spend the day with.

I have every intention of attending further classes with Cathy and would recommend her courses to anyone!
