Would you like to undertake repointing works as part of a renovation project, general maintenance to traditional masonry structures...or just to have some fun to learn a traditional craft skill? This practical one day course will give you the skills you need to complete lime pointing works with confidence. Find out about the properties and different uses of lime in buildings and why lime is an essential material when looking after traditional buildings. The day starts with input from the tutors, you will learn about the different types of lime, their uses and the best type of lime to use where. You will see some practical demonstrations and then it is time to put your knowledge into practice. You will make a traditional lime mix and then use it to carry out pointing repairs. This course is aimed at home owners, or anyone who has an interest in working with traditional building materials in new build or conservation projects.
