Description

Step into the refined world of soft pastels and explore elegant, expressive techniques inspired by Degas. This carefully guided session offers a relaxed yet sophisticated introduction to working with pastels, revealing how subtle layering, blending and texture can be used to create artwork filled with light, movement and character. No prior experience is required, and the approach is designed to feel both reassuring and rewarding from the outset. Sam Scott begins with gentle demonstrations that build confidence naturally, allowing you to ease into the medium at a comfortable pace. You will learn how to handle and move pastels with intention, how colour can softly shape form, and how to create seamless transitions that reflect the grace and delicacy often associated with Degas’ work. Each stage is clearly explained, offering guidance without pressure and encouraging thoughtful, personal exploration. This workshop is well suited to those seeking a slower, more considered creative experience. Whether you are new to art materials or already enjoy creative practice, the session invites you to enjoy the tactile pleasure of pastels within a calm, welcoming studio setting. Working alongside others who appreciate creativity and conversation adds to the quietly enriching atmosphere.
