Description
This introductory workshop is designed to teach you the fundamentals of lace making. By focusing on a basic stitch, you will create a 'Torchon Ground' lace bookmark, perfect for beginners looking to explore this traditional craft. Handmade bobbin lace has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. It is a unique form of off-loom weaving, crafted on a “lace pillow” using threads that are carefully wound onto bobbins. Despite its intricate appearance, all bobbin lace is constructed using just two movements, manipulating four bobbins at a time. During the workshop, coloured threads are used to help you easily observe your progress as your lace grows. This method supports beginners in understanding the process more clearly. After completing this introduction, you will have the opportunity to participate in further workshops, where you can learn new stitches and create a variety of lace designs.
