We were always told never play with fire - but its actually quite fun The day is 6 hours at the anvil, getting an introduction to basic blacksmithing at my workshop in Streatham SW London. Theres no set project to make as its better to make what you want rather and free style it on the day. For example. Basic forging, basic knife making and fitting handle, or making something for home or garden Learn how to forge hot metal in a gas forge- running on propane. When it's hot and orange it's surprisingly soft and expressive. We start with the basics and you'll be hands on straight away: tapering, forging and make a useful or sculptural item to take home. Theres no set theme or project to make, instead you decide and then make it. From king minions to bush knives or whatever can be made in the day...which tends to be quite a lot, I've got lots of metal. I've also got a power hammer

FAQs
Forging hot metal is hot and can burn your clothes- so it's a good idea to wear something like old jeans heavy cotton/denim and NOT synthetic which can melt. Leather shoes are a good idea too. I've got leather aprons and safety glasses.
There's a few places for lunch just outside the Industrial Estate and a fridge, microwave and tea/ coffee is available throughout the day
