Greenwood stool making at Greenwood Days
Description
Make a greenwood stool on a traditional pole lathe. We will start with the growing tree, learning how to select the best wood, looking at how it’s grown and what would be best for each stool. You’ll learn how to cleave, axe, drawknife on a shaving horse and turn the freshly felled wood on the pole lathe. You’ll dish a stool top using traditional travishers, finishing with a great stool to take home. Greenwood Days have been running woodland craft courses since 1998. The course centre is set in a beautiful 90 acre wood in the National Forest on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border. Our tutors are all highly skilled professional craft workers and teachers who share our passion for preserving, promoting and passing on these crafts and techniques. Come and enjoy the beauty of the woodland, be inspired, be creative, learn a new craft.
