Garden Stained Glass Leaded Panel in New Romney, Kent
Description
Enjoy a full day of creativity as you explore the traditional techniques of leaded stained glass. This intensive, hands-on workshop gives you the opportunity to design and make your own decorative glass panel, finished in a sturdy metal frame and ready for display in your garden all year round. The frame is designed to hold interchangeable panels, meaning you can create additional designs in future and swap them to suit the season or your mood. Guided by experienced tutors, you’ll work through every stage of the process—cutting and shaping coloured glass, stretching and cutting lead came, soldering, cementing, and black leading—before completing your panel for outdoor use. The course is achievable for all abilities, including complete beginners, but it is a long and full day, with plenty to learn and put into practice. You’ll choose from a range of specially designed templates, suitable for both novices and those with previous experience who may want more of a challenge. Some designs also allow for optional screen-printed elements, while others are created entirely from vibrant coloured glass. As materials vary between sessions, every finished piece is unique, shaped by your own colour and design choices. Because glass is best cut while standing, participants should expect to be on their feet for parts of the day. If you have any difficulty using your hands, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the best way to support you. With just four participants per course, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, giving everyone space to focus, build confidence, and enjoy the process. Our advice and guidance are available throughout the day, and we continue to provide support by email after the workshop if you need it. The final moment—when you hold your panel up to the light for the first time—never fails to delight, revealing the beauty of your creation.
