About the Course
A fantastic four week course that can be spread over a six month period, days & times to suit you. This is great for those that have busy schedules or can't commit to set days. Runs every day except Mondays, including weekends.
The course is suitable for all ages & beginners, more advanced potters welcome.
Once purchased you simply ring the studio and tell us when you are coming to a session (24 hours minimum notice required). You can come any day or time when the studio is open. Each session lasts around 2.5 hours, however there is no fixed time limit and you can take as long as you wish making your pottery item.
You will be taught how to make pottery using a variety of techniques by Sharon an experienced sculptor & online ceramic instructor for clayshare.
Week/Session 1: Coiling
you will learn how to coil and assemble a coil pot, these can be finished in a thousand different ways , some of which will be explored during the session. You will make your own pot during the session.
Week/Session 2: Potter's wheel
You will be shown how to throw, centre and pull a pot on the potters wheel. After being shown and helped with the first pot, you then have time to practice and make your own pots on the wheel.
Week/Session 3: Slab rolling
Slab pots can take a variety of forms from pots, boxes and vases, we will explore these and the different finishes and you will learn how to roll and assemble using this method, to create your own pot.
Week/Session 4: Modelling
In this session you will learn how to shape and assemble a figure made in clay. You can either make a Highland cow , Hare or Donkey.
Once you have attended this course there is the option of attending additional classes at a reduced rate.

What's included in the price?
All materials & equipment to use during the session.
All items made can be taken home to air dry and painted or decorated as you wish with acrylics.
Alternatively you can have any of your creations kiln fired at a cost of £3.50 per item (this includes a return visit to paint the item in the studio) or you may wish to have all your creations fired at a cost of £20 (includes a return visit for glazing).
Drinks and snacks can be brought with you or can be purchased from the Potters Corner Cafe next to the studio.
