Description

Hello & welcome. I'm Sharon, an experienced ceramic artist who alongside a small staff team runs fun & informal pottery sessions for those aged 18 years & over. This fantastic Flexible Six Week Beginners pottery course is a fun & friendly introduction to working with clay. It has been designed for absolute beginners and those wanting a refresher. The course tutors have a variety of projects that are beginner friendly & cover the fundamentals of working with clay. You will be able to choose from our many examples in the studio. You will explore coiling, throwing on the potters wheel, slab, pinch/modelling along with glazing. The first 4 weeks are step-by-step, tutor led, making a new creation each week. Week 5 is a free style session with independent studio time for you to explore your own ideas, using the skills learnt in the first 4 weeks. In week 6, you'll explore underglazes and Mayco glazes, glazing a few of your creations. Sessions are 2 hours in duration & run Monday to Saturday each week. (6 x 2 hour sessions). Once you have booked in your first session, the remaining sessions can be attended when you wish (subject to availability), they don't need to be attended on the same day or time each week. You can miss a week and do two sessions the next - fab for those that work shifts & can't commit to set days. The course must be completed within 3 months from your start date. Unfortunately, missed sessions can't be refunded or rescheduled, so please ensure that you can attend each session before booking. Clay & bisque firing of your work is included. Once you have attended this course, there is the option of becoming a potter member, where you can further explore your own ideas & hone those pottery skills. The Crafty Potter studio is based within Heskin shopping village, a unique retail and leisure destination featuring over 40 unique shops and businesses. With free parking, we’re a perfect destination for you to make a great fun day out. The course makes a fabulous gift for all occasions.
