About the Course
So you want to learn how to make felt? We will teach you the traditional and modern techniques of felt making. You will be able to create designs of your own as a starting point for your felts, building up a library of samples. You will make two items, an aesthetic and a functional item. We look at stitching into felt and you will learn how to dye your own materials to use. It is a thorough and enjoyable introduction to setting out on making felt pieces of your own. No experience is necessary for this one-year course.
This is a 120-hour programme that establishes and develops design and skills in a craft area. It is for anyone who wishes to study their craft area in depth, which could be for personal interest or for professional development. The participant may have attended a number of workshops, or done an introductory programme; and is now ready to progress, integrating design alongside good craft skills to develop as a maker.
The programme will be delivered through home study and / or classroom delivery, where gained knowledge is applied in practice.
