Description

Join us for a fun and creative Crochet Garment Workshop designed to help you build the skills and confidence to make your own wearable pieces! In the sessions, you’ll learn the essentials of crochet garment construction, from understanding shaping, swatch making and fit. We’ll start with a brief introduction to garment-making theory, discovering different crochet garment constructions before diving into our main project: the popular hexagon cardigan (or you can make jumper/sweater version if you prefer). Guided step-by-step, you’ll explore how two simple hexagons can be transformed into a stylish, customisable cardi. You do not have to be experienced crocheter to join us, if you can make a granny square, you can make this cardigan. This workshop will provide practical tips, pattern guidance, and hands-on support. By the end, you’ll have made a strong start on your own hexagon cardi and leave equipped with the knowledge, techniques, and inspiration to complete it at home with confidence. This workshop is running over two sessions and you should be able to attend both. You will need to bring: *Yarn of your choice (you will need approximately 1000g per garment depending on yarn type and size you are making, please only bring 100g to your first lesson). Remember, thicker the yarn, the quicker your project comes together. Acrylic yarn is great choice for your first crochet garment as it is readily available and cost effective. *Crochet hook you are comfortable working with and is suitable for your chosen yarn.

Kat first learned to crochet as a child, taught by her beloved grandmother who was an arts and crafts teacher herself, and that early spark for creativity has stayed with her ever since. She began designing her own crochet patterns in 2020 and moved naturally into teaching in 2022, where she discovered how much she enjoys helping others grow their skills. Kat has taught both one-to-one sessions and group workshops of up to 14 students, supporting beginners taking their very first stitches as well as improvers ready to take on new challenges. Her students often describe her as patient, encouraging, and able to explain techniques in a calm and friendly way that puts everyone at ease. With a true passion for making and sharing the joy of crochet, Kat loves guiding people toward that magical moment when things click and they feel proud of what their hands can create.

FAQs

This workshop will run over two sessions, both are on Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. You should attend both sessions: 16th May and 23rd May 2026.

Even though beginner friendly, this session would be better suited for someone who already knows basic crochet stitches and how to hold your yarn and hook. I would recommend attending my workshop for Absolute Beginners first or complete my Crochet Mini Course first. Please contact me if you are unsure if this course is suitable for you.

Absolutely, these workshops are designed for both right- and left-handed crocheters.
