Description

Dive into the world of crochet with no previous experience. Learn how to craft stunning storage baskets from scratch, even if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook before! In this hands-on class, you’ll have the time and materials to create two sturdy crochet baskets in sizes that perfectly fit your needs. Using a chunky 6mm hook and 5mm 100% recycled cotton braid, you’ll craft: Medium Basket: Approximately H9cm x W15cm (wooden basket base) Mini Basket: Approximately H10cm x W10cm (wooden basket base) These baskets aren’t just functional; they’re also incredibly versatile. Use them to store toiletries, jewellery, craft supplies, stationary, sweets, or proudly display keepsakes and found objects. Plus, they add a personal touch to any space, whether it’s your office, bathroom, crafts studio, or as a thoughtful gift for a friend. And the best part? You don’t need any prior experience to join this creative and sociable class. All materials, including premium cord, a 6mm hook, solid basket base, and a feature leather ‘handmade’ tag, will be provided. Plus, you’ll receive the pattern so you can continue crafting at home! Once you’ve discovered how addictive crochet is, you’ll be hooked (excuse the pun!) and ready to learn more skills and techniques in one of our regular Beginner’s Crochet classes.

Founded in 1906, we are a family firm with shops in York and Harrogate. We specialise in haberdashery and needlecrafting materials and workshops, with an international reputation for stocking over 10,000+ different button designs. Our classes are held in a beautiful beamed room at the top of our medieval building in York and in the Yorkshire town of Ilkley in a converted Victorian double-fronted shop. They are taught by practicing designers and makers with considerable expertise in (and passion for) their respective crafts, and considerable teaching experience.
