This three-week course is aimed at beginners or those with some practical experience, who would like to learn more about the core elements of garden design. It will cover the following topics:
- History of garden design: a brief tour of the major influences from around the world.
- Key considerations in garden design: purpose and practicalities.
- Designing with plants: a brief tour of the major plant groups and how to combine them to great effect.
Your tutor, Esther Wolff, is an experienced gardener based in North Yorkshire. Esther has qualifications in horticulture and garden design and works part-time as a horticultural advisor with the Royal Horticultural Society.

This is an informal, friendly course which aims to give participants plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Information will be presented using a slide pack and photographs. The course includes PDF handouts on all the topics covered.
This course is delivered over Zoom so you will need a computer and fast internet connection, and an understanding of how to use Zoom.
