Join us for an intensive one-day woodworking experience where you'll craft a stunning, one-of-a-kind cutting board and serving plate using a carefully curated selection of premium hardwoods. This hands-on course combines traditional woodworking techniques with modern tools to create a piece that's as beautiful as it is functional. What you'll create: Your finished piece will showcase the natural beauty and unique characteristics of multiple hardwood species, creating distinctive patterns and visual appeal that makes each board truly individual. What you'll learn: This comprehensive workshop covers essential woodworking skills and tool operation, including: • Wood selection and grain matching – Understanding how different species work together. • Table and mitre saw operation – Safe techniques for precise cuts and dimensioning. • Thicknesser operation – Creating uniform thickness across your materials. • Router techniques – Adding professional finishing touches and edge profiles. • Hand tool mastery – Traditional techniques for fine detail work. • Finishing techniques – Protecting and enhancing your creation's natural beauty. Why choose this course: This isn't just about making a cutting board – it's about creating a unique piece of functional art that reflects your personal style. The combination of multiple hardwood species creates visual interest and character that you simply can't find in store-bought alternatives. You'll leave with both a beautiful handcrafted piece for your home and the confidence to tackle future woodworking projects. Perfect as a gift for yourself or someone special, or as an introduction to the rewarding world of woodworking craftsmanship. FAQs

Of course you can! Just let me know in advance what type of wood you have and what size it is so I can make the necessary arrangements for the day of the course.

Unfortunately, Wellington House does not have its own secure parking. While there is on road parking outside, this sometimes can fill up quickly. There is a pay and display car park a 5 min walk down the road which is more reliable for space availability. Metrolink is probably a better option however - Holt Town tram station is just a 3 min walk from my studio.

There will be a 1 hour break for lunch. Although I do not provide food, please feel free to bring some lunch with you. Alternatively, there is a wonderful Sicilian street food vendor called Marleo in Pollard Yard next to my studio.

At the moment, unfortunately not as my studio is not on the ground floor of the building. Wellington House is an old mill building, and while it does have a service lift, it is frequently out of order. This is not ideal and I am actively looking into other options for a studio that would solve this issue.
