FAQs

No, as the candle you will make uses fragrance oil and are often not pet-friendly. Therefore, please opt to make the unscented soy candle and the beeswax candle.

Fragrance oils can be safe but their safety depends on the manufactures recommended dillution percentage being followed.
All candles are required by Law to have a CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) label with possible allergies, respiratory issues, or hormonal disruption, requiring good ventilation and avoiding direct skin application. You should always check the label for hazard warnings, use candles in well-ventilated areas (recommended to burn a candle for a max 4hours then extinguish to allow the air to refresh), keep them away from pets.

For the Candle Making Workshop, Fragrance Oils are used.
First, the main difference their origin and purpose: essential oils for wellness/natural scent and are natural, plant-derived extracts offering therapeutic benefits, extracted via distillation/pressing. While fragrance oils are synthetic or blended concoctions (natural/synthetic mix) created in labs for consistent, long-lasting, specific scents, often used in products like candles where heat stability is key, for strong, reliable aroma in manufactured goods.

No - you can make two natural Soy candles. The Beeswax is a 'natural' fragrance.

Some people could be allergic to Soy Wax, Beeswax and some or all fragrances; protective gloves and aprons will be available on the day of the workshop. If in doubt seek advice before signing up for the Workshop. If you wish you could make two natural soy candles, the Beeswax has its own natural fragrance.

Safety advice for the use of candles: never burn candles unattended; always burn candle out of reach of children and pets; always leave at least 10cm between burning candles; do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire; do not place candles in a draught; do not place candles near a source of heat; place candles in an upright position; trim the wick to about 5mm (1/4 inch) before lighting; do not burn when there is less than 1-2cm of wax remaining, as the container can become extremely hot, and it could cause it to break or shatter which increases the risk of a fire or injury; always snuff out the candle. Do not blow it out; always use a candle holder or a heatproof stand as the container will get HOT; never move a burning candle; never use a liquid to extinguish a candle.
