Botanical Paper Flower Making: The Art of the Paper Rose Workshop in Chester
Description
Create a super-realistic botanical paper rose in Chester with Master Paper Botanist Ling Warlow Join The Art Doctor for a truly special paper flower making workshop in Chester, led by internationally respected paper botanist Ling Warlow. This immersive, one-day creative experience offers a rare opportunity to learn how to make astonishingly realistic paper roses, guided by one of the leading figures in contemporary paper botanicals. Perfectly located for Chester, Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales, this workshop is ideal for anyone looking for a meaningful, hands-on creative day that combines skill-building, calm focus and connection through making. About the workshop: Using simple materials such as crepe paper, glue and wire, Ling will guide you step by step through the process of creating a botanically accurate paper rose. You will learn how to colour, cut and shape paper to form petals, stamens, sepals and leaves, carefully building your rose from the centre outward to achieve a lifelike, professional finish. This is not a quick craft project. Paper flower making is a slow, absorbing and mindful process that encourages close observation and patience. Many people describe it as deeply relaxing and surprisingly addictive. By the end of the session, you will take home a beautiful paper rose and a new way of seeing real flowers. Why this workshop is special: This is a rare chance to learn directly from a master of the field without travelling far afield. Ling’s workshops are known for their clarity, generosity and calm atmosphere, making complex botanical structures accessible to all abilities. Unlike decorative paper flower classes, this session focuses on true botanical realism, technique and understanding of form, offering skills that can be built on long after the day ends. About the artist: Ling Warlow is one of the UK’s most highly regarded paper botanists, internationally recognised for her exceptionally realistic botanical paper flowers. Her work is celebrated for its scientific accuracy, craftsmanship and sensitivity to natural detail. She is the author of the acclaimed book Paper Botanicals, widely used by serious paper flower makers worldwide, and her work has been featured in exhibitions, publications and creative showcases. Ling is regularly invited to teach specialist workshops thanks to her ability to translate expert-level techniques into clear, achievable steps for learners - no doubt down to her previous experience as a qualified teacher. Learning from Ling in person is a unique opportunity to gain insight into professional methods that are rarely shared in local workshops. You can explore more of her work, publications and ongoing practice via her online platforms. Who it’s for: This paper flower workshop in Chester is open to all abilities. Beginners are warmly welcomed, and those with experience in craft, floristry or art will find plenty to deepen their skills. It also makes a thoughtful gift experience for creative adults.
