Hi, we're Kate and Martin McCully, the husband and wife duo behind Maker Studio. With backgrounds in design, craft, and creative direction, we created this space to be a colourful hub for the local community. I’m Kate, an award-winning crochet designer and author of Crochet at Work and the person behind Make Me Roar. You might’ve even seen me win Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas on Channel 4 with my hand-stitched reindeer, Ruben. At Maker Studio, you’ll find a curated mix of modern craft supplies, tools and kits, from yarn by Rico and Stylecraft to gorgeous embroidery threads and kits from brilliant UK makers like Cotton Twist, The Left Hookery, and more. My own crochet kits are all designed here in Eastbourne and are on the shelves too. We don’t just sell supplies we host weekly workshops in everything from beginner crochet and lino printing to creative writing and still life drawing. There are evening and weekend sessions, as well as family-friendly activities and holiday clubs for kids. Our in-studio coffee bar serves incredible coffee from Extract Coffee Roasters and rich vegan hot chocolate from Islands Chocolate. Pop in for a drink, work on a project or try one of our quick Make and Take crafts. Every Thursday, we host a free Meet and Make – a laid-back session for local crafters to get together, share ideas and get making. Come in, have a coffee and make something. We’d love to see you.
