Description

Does your sewing machine make you feel nervous? Have you always wondered what all the buttons are for? And those extra presser feet...what do they do? Whether you have a manual or a digital sewing machine, old or new, bring it along to The Oast Studio and GET TO KNOW IT by spending a morning with Annabelle's guidance. If you don't have a sewing machine, you are welcome to come and learn how to use one of ours. We'll go over the basics that are needed for most sewing projects and look at various trouble shooting options as well as learning how to take out the bobbin casing and give your machine a good clean. You'll be amazed at how much fluff has gathered there! We'll have time to experiment and play with different stitches and make a simple item to take home. This beginners’ sewing machine course covers: - The different parts of the sewing machine. - Threading your machine and winding a matching bobbin. - Stitch selection. - Starting to sew. - Setting tension. - Seam allowances. - Presser feet – when to use them and how to change them. - Basic sewing machine maintenance. Just 20 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Uckfield and Crowborough, The Oast Studio is a beautifully converted Oast house with views across peaceful farmland, the perfect cosy spot to unwind this season. Surrounded by the comforting aroma of home baking from The Oast Bakery, you’ll enjoy delicious cakes and warm refreshments as you relax, create, and connect. Come for the creativity, stay for the calm, the cake, and the company. "What an absolutely fabulous afternoon learning to sew with my sewing machine. Annabelle was a brilliant teacher, very patient and with great personality too. The whole group was great. I was a complete beginner and feel so happy to have been taught how to use my sewing machine. There is no stop in me now! Thank you so much. Also the cakes were delicious. I will definitely be recommending The Oast Studio and look forward to doing another course soon." VICTORIA. Accessibility: Please note that most courses are held upstairs. The Oast Studio was started in 2021, as the COVID restrictions came to an end and we realised there was a need and a demand for people to come and spend time crafting together. We paired together our love of food and sewing and The Oast Studio was created! We now offer over 80 different craft and sewing classes from Needle Felting & Basket Weaving to Sewing & Painting. With freshly baked treats at every class plus home cooked lunches at all our full day courses.
