Bee / Flower Tote Embroidery Workshop

X

Description

During this workshop you will create either a bee or flower cotton tote using hand embroidery with a stranded cotton thread. You will learn how to transfer and stitch a design using the stranded cotton and the surprising versatility of the humble running stitch. The main image will be hand printed by myself prior to the session but the decorative elements will be left for individual interpretation on the day. The group will be small allowing for a friendly and relaxed sewing environment. The session is suitable for both beginners and those with some sewing experience. Please specify which tote you would like to embroider in the additional comments box on the booking form - thank you. If you are looking for a group activity and there are not enough places available, please get in touch, I am able to run this session as a bespoke event.

What's included in the price?

All materials required (including loan of an embroidery hoop) to make your chosen decorative tote are included in the workshop price. Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the session. Please feel free to bring your own dietary or allergen alternatives to keep you going!

StitchwithKate has been a dream of mine for a number of years. Over the 2020 lockdown I was able to put more time into sewing and as a result I began to tentatively share, through local artisan markets, sewn items that I had made. 3 years further down the line and this idea has progressed and I have decided that the time has come to make sewing more than just a hobby of mine! As a result, I have become a part time teacher and am now working hard to establish StitchwithKate as a business. The vision is that of teaching people to sew. I am a teacher through and through but with a passion for sewing that I would love to share. I believe that absolutely ANYONE who wants to learn to sew CAN. I have had children as young as two effectively using a needle and the results are both heart warming and empowering. Too many times I have heard the phrases; “I can’t sew.” “I have a sewing machine but no idea how to use it.” “I don’t have the patience for that.” and my favourite… “Kate, can you sew this button back on for me?” The answer to the latter; “No, I can’t, but I can teach you how to do it!” I have created an ever expanding mix of instructed kits and in person workshops to help me achieve my goal. You can find these here and over on my website. For insights into what is up and coming why not visit my Instagram page StitchwithKate2. I am also able to offer bespoke workshops to groups so if you are, for example, in Scouting or Guiding, a member of the WI, a school seeking curriculum enrichment or an individual looking for a unique party experience for a special occasion please do get in touch. Sewing is both mindful and creative in nature and I hope as a result that you will become as enchanted as I am by the humble sewing needle. Happy stitching, Kate
