A Botanical Casting Workshop with Clare Towers of The Foxglove Tree
Description
Join me for a workshop in which you will learn the art of botanical casting. Capturing all the intricate details of seasonal plants and flowers in raised relief. During the workshop you will learn how to prepare the clay for casting. Select the correct seasonal flora and how to arrange and create a unique design. Techniques for pressing different flowers. Removal of the flora. Mixing and pouring plaster. You will also learn how to sand and finish your cast at home. You will leave the workshop with your own unique cast panel to be proudly displayed in your home. There will be a lunch break during the class to allow for the cast to set. Please bring a pack lunch. All materials are provided. Although an apron is supplied, you will be working with clay and plaster so old clothes are recommended. You are more than welcome to bring your own flowers if you wish to incorporate something special from your own garden.
